When SkyClan is reassembled life becomes great. That is, when it was. But what if Firestar never came? What if the destiny of SkyClan rested in another tom's paws? Well, it seems that another young tom by the name of Sky knows what destiny awaits his great-grandparents' Clan. He has seen dreams of a fiery young warrior that might come if nothing is done before. But Sky isn't the kind of tom to leave his heritage in the paws of an amateur that knows not what he has gotten himself into. So young and eager Sky finds himself in Firestar's place, even before Firestar is born, and fights off the rats to saves the day. Then, he is left with friends and a new, loving family. When he passes sorrowing tears are shed. But now the third generation since the great Skystar's death has been born, and only the Clan's memory of the proud cat remains along with the stories he left behind. Now, however, SkyClan faces their greatest threat yet. The Rogue Gang known as BloodClan is back, lead by their new leader and Scourge's nephew, Murder. These cats mean business and long for the land that SkyClan possesses after being run out by the Clans. This means that not even the great Clans can save SkyClan now. It is up to Skystar's great-grandchildren, with the help of a love-struck warrior, to save SkyClan this time.

"Another one! Another one!" Flightpaw cried, still having yet to lose her bouncy enthusiasm. She smiled as she hopped about, flicking her tail about and smiling up at her mentor. Raintail smiled softly at her mate's apprentice and sat herself down, feeling a tail touch her shoulder gently. It was her mate, and he stood and stretched with a wide yawn. "You never finished the story from yesterday, Storyteller." He said with a sigh. Raintail shook her head and whispered "Be nice." to him. "Which one?" Storyteller asked the greyish brown tom with an old, aged smile. "About the SkyClan cats." "Did I not?" he asked in a somewhat confused old voice. Raintail sighed and winced as she felt a kick in her side. Her mate smiled at her. They both knew that the kits would be born soon, and they were only making motion worse for Raintail every day. "No. Well, you did, but there has to be more. So Sky saved the day? What next?" The tom asked a little unhappily. "Ah, Drearyfur, you always have to know more, don't you?" Storyteller asked the grey-brown tom who was Raintail's mate. Drearyfur smiled. "Always have, always will." He replied with a gleam of happiness in his eyes. "Well then, I better hurry it up before you, well, you know." Storyteller said with a wink. Raintail looked in confusion up at her mate and Drearyfur smiled back but said nothing. Storyteller nodded and continued. "Best be starting back at the beginning..."

"You see, it was the first Warrior Ceremony that was for apprentices in the newly reformed SkyClan..."
---
"Would all cats gather beneath the Star Rock for a Clan Meeting." Lakestar spoke as he looked rather lovingly out at his new Clan. He and his mate were the last of the first reformed SkyClan, quickly killed by rats. Skystar had quickly made him leader at his dying breath, and now he had helped rebuild the Clan a second time. He smiled out at his friends as they gathered and he realized that h was surrounded by friends. "We have a very special evening tonight, and we owe it all to CloudClan and our ancestors."
---
"CloudClan? I thought their ancestors were StarClan like us." Flightpaw asked Storyteller with a frown. "Yes, but when SkyClan was driven out by the Clans they swore never to look to StarClan and their ancestors again. CloudClan is their ancestors only, and none of StarClan can be found there." Storyteller said with an amused purr. Drearyfur sighed and looked at his mate, who appeared a little disheartened that her Clans could run another group away, even in a story. It just seemed too heartless. But he smiled as Storyteller continued. "Anyway..."
---
"Would Meadowpaw and Rosepaw step forward, please?" Lakestar called out and smiled at the apprentices about to get their names. Rosepaw was thirteen moons of age, and Meadowpaw was fourteen moons. They now had to prove their worth in the new tradition of the Rose Circle Battle. The battle was named after the pool of blood found after the rat fight. It was a fight between one cat and an apprentice, normally two apprentices, to prove their worth in battle. No tooth or claw could be used to fight, and the mock battle showed strong and weak points a cat could develop through their years.
"Let the Rose Circle Battle begin!" Lakestar called as Meadowpaw and Rosepaw found the edges of the circle. It was marked by silver stones that stood out on the red soil, and they launched at each other. Rosepaw slashed with her paw out at Meadowpaw's face, but the skilled Meadowpaw quickly ducked to avoid the blow and shot her paw forward with grace and speed, tripping Rosepaw. She then pinned Rosepaw down and smiled, but Rosepaw twisted to get her legs under Meadowpaw's belly. She kicked back and shot the skilled apprentice back, allowing her to regain her footing.
Meadowpaw leaped at Rosepaw, who ducked and delivered a fake blow to Meadowpaw's stomach. Meadowpaw quickly spun in mid air and turned to face Rosepaw, who dashed forward. Meadowpaw side-stepped and did an impressive flank rake with her paw. Meadowpaw grabbed Rosepaw's flank and pushed her away, causing her to topple in her mad dash. Meadowpaw pinned her neck and touched it with her nose, symbolic of a bite in battle.
"Fight!" Lakestar called with a proud smile. Rosepaw and Meadowpaw wearily padded over to stand beneath the tall mound of rocks called the Star Rock, as it reached up into the heavens and nearly brushed the stars. "Meadowpaw, as champion of the battle I name you Meadowsweet. You have a kind heart and a fury in your claws, may no cat ever suffer to meet it. To Meadowsweet!" He smiled out at the Clan.
"To Meadowsweet!" The Clan copied him. She turned and walked out of the ring of stones and over to her family, to wait for her best friend Rosepaw to receive her name. They'd often joked about the Rose Circle Battle being the source of her name, and claimed that it would give her enhanced fighting skills by magic. "Now, Rosepaw, my dear. I name you after myself as you show great strength and promise. Rosefur, as my name was once Lakefur, your determination shows us your great heart will fill the Clan with strength for many, many moons. To Rosefur!" "To Rosefur!" The Clan copied once again. And Rosefur smiled proudly, as she shared the leader's name and a new destiny as well.

"How did you get a thorn this deep into your pad? I'm not sure I can remove it..." Foxpaw said with a frown, casting a glance up at Rosefur. The she-cat rolled her eyes and looked away as if not wanting to meet Foxpaw's gaze. Foxpaw and Rosefur had been friends for about a quarter-moon before Rosepaw and Meadowpaw began to hang out and leave Foxpaw off to do her chores. Since then Foxpaw and Rosefur's younger sister, Jadepaw, had become friends. And obviously Rosefur still didn't care for the Medicine Cat Apprentice who lacked an adventurous side. Jadepaw bounced into the Medicine Den with a big grin, nodding at her sister and sitting next to Foxpaw. Foxpaw silently nodded at her friend and bit into Rosefur's pad.
"OW!!! Hey!" Rosefur shrieked as Foxpaw yanked the thorn out of her pad. It was no little thorn, however, and it was both long and sharp. A little blood began to well out of Rosefur's paw. "That's no thorn, that's a needle!" Foxpaw joked and Jadepaw purred. "Jadepaw, grab me some Cobweb, would you?" Foxpaw turned to her friend who quickly raced back to where the Medicines were. Bringing back a little bit of Cobweb, Foxpaw applied the webs to Rosefur's foot. Nodding with satisfaction, Foxpaw let Rosefur turn her paw over and stand up. "Better, I guess. Err, thanks." Rosefur said somewhat awkwardly, stepping away from her smiling sister and her ex-friend. As she exited the Medicine Den, she was met by a happy-looking Meadowsweet.
"Yes?" Rosefur asked, stepping back once more so that her friend's face wasn't so close to her own. Meadowsweet was often happy but never that happy, so something was definitely up. Meadowsweet laughed a bit and turned, signaling for Rosefur to walk her. They walked for a minute in a strange kind of silence. Then they bounded up onto the Sky Rock and looked out at the Clan. In the silence up there, Rosefur began to itch for an answer to her friend's odd happiness. Meadowsweet was most definitely not acting like normal, and it was apparent in both her eyes and her smile. And her silence, she was never quiet. Sometimes she couldn't stop talking. Now she was acting as if the silence was better than the story. Was it? But as Rosefur thought, Meadowsweet spoke.
"Toadstool asked me to Sky's old den." She said, bubbling over with apparent joy. Sky's old den, before SkyClan had been reformed, was now used for two cats who wanted time alone. Normally when a tom asked a she-cat there, it was like a date for them. They could talk to each other, share interests and hobbies, and hopefully become future mates. After all, the Clan needed more kits for sure. They'd become strong warriors and then SkyClan could grow even further. Rosefur frowned at the notion of her best friend going to Sky's Den with the tom she'd had her eyes on since he had joined SkyClan with his brother. After all, there was hardly a tom in the Clan her age or close to it, and if Toadstool was in love it meant she had only three options. Two rude ones and one who was probably her best bet. But she had never cared much for Frozenfury, and she'd always been attracted to Toadstool's quiet nature. Now she couldn't even have him.
"But, but..." Rosefur searched for an excuse on why they couldn't be mates. "But he's been a warrior way longer than you have. Isn't it a bit soon after your ceremony to have a mate?" Rosefur stated in a very matter-of-factly tone, trying her best to sound concerned and not the least bit jealous. It worked. "He may have been a warrior for four moons already, but he's only two moons my elder. And besides, we don't need a family yet. Just each other." She said dreamily, and Rosefur began to fume. But she bit her lip and sighed, knowing that she could find a way to get Toadstool to fall for her. Even if it meant hurting Meadowsweet. After all, if it was on accident then she couldn't feel guilty... Right?

It was exactly two weeks since Meadowsweet and Toadstool had first gone out. Every night since, they'd been out talking in Sky's Den, nicknamed by Toadstool the Place. They were in love and it was easily visible in their faces. When they saw one another they glowed with pride. When they caught each others' gazes, their eyes sparkled with some hidden secret affection. It was easy to see that sooner or later they'd announce being mates. After all, they didn't have much more to talk about in the Place and once you ran out of words there was nothing left but the decision - love or no?
So it was on the second week or the half-moon that Rosefur knew she had to do something. Anything. In a desperate attempt to make Toadstool notice her, she headed out to Sky's Den. She found Toadstool there, and no sight of Meadowsweet yet. Perfect. Smiling a bit to herself, Rosefur took a deep breath and padded over to him. In the shadows he looked out at her. "Meadowsweet?" Toadstool's voice was joyous and hopeful. "No, Rosefur." "Oh, what do you want? If you're looking for Meadowsweet, she isn't here yet." "I know. I wanted to talk to you." Rosefur said, faking a sigh and coming to sit next to him. "About what?" "Meadowsweet." Rosefur stated plainly. Toadstool frowned, somewhat interested in what she had to say. After all, they were best friends.
"She's using you. She doesn't actually love you. She told me she merely wants to get close to you to get close to your brother. She could care less about poor old you." Rosefur spoke innocently, shaking her head. Toadstool blinked in confusion, not sure what to think or to say. And then he scented Meadowsweet. Standing and stretching, he padded away from Rosefur quietly. "I don't believe your lies. I don't know why you say it but I know it isn't true." Yet his voice seemed to be thick with confusion. He was unsure of what to believe now, and it scared him.
Rosefur stood and padded away, not wanting to hear any more about how much they loved each other. It made her sick. Angry and sick. So she left and didn't hear the conversation that followed. "Meadowsweet, Rosefur told me you don't love me. I want the truth. If you love Frozenfury I'll help you get him to notice you. Please, I need to know." "Toadstool, you make no sense. You know I love you more than life itself, and I don't see why you can't believe that. I love you, Toadstool."
-
The next morning, Rosefur grumpily got up and headed out into the chilly early morning air. Meadowsweet bounded happily after her, as if the conversation Rosefur had had with Toadstool was long forgotten. She skipped up to her friend happily, and Rosefur sighed and rolled her eyes. "We're mates now." Meadowsweet said happily, almost bubbling over with joy. "So you two agreed on it then?" Rosefur asked rather unhappily. "Well, sort of... Yeah..." She said somewhat dreamily, in a daze. Rosefur looked at her with wide eyes and a shocked expression on her face. If two cats did more than just talk at Sky's Den then they were forced into being mates. But it seemed like, in Meadowsweet's case, that was a good thing.
"Well be careful. Like you said, you don't need a family yet." Rosefur said plainly. "Which is why we'll no longer worry about seeing each other in Sky's Den anymore. We're mates and we're in love and we don't need to worry about seeing each other. We can hunt and take walks and enjoy our time together that way." Meadowsweet looked off at Toadstool who stood on the Skyrock, waiting for her. He called to her and she smiled. "Gotta go, Rosefur. See you later." Rosefur watched her friend leave. As she did so, she realized that if Toadstool hadn't even agreed to be mates but rather forced themselves into it, he wasn't the one for her. She no longer was jealous for Meadowsweet, but angry. Because now her best friend wouldn't even talk to her. She was too busy with her mate. And it made Rosefur too mad for words.

A shrill cry pierced the chilly night air, shattering the previously peaceful silence. Then nothing. Blank. It was an eerie stillness that followed, as if the whole world waited for the coming moments. As if every breath was frozen with waiting. But that petrified Leaf-fall night was broken with the sound of footfalls on the hard rocks, gently pattering and placing round footprints in the light, almost nothing, blanket of frost. The sound of three cats hurrying to see what had caused such a disruption and what they could do to help fix it.
So it was that three cats and twelve paws hurried to where the cry had come from, the Nursery. The first cat in was a black tom with white markings and dark blue eyes, Tallfoot. The second was a dusky dark brown she-cat with dark blue eyes, the Deputy Strongheart. The third shoved her way past the first two unhappily. It was Silktail, the brown and gold Medicine Cat whose fiery green eyes seemed unhappy at such an early waking. Obviously her apprentice was still sleepily gathering herbs. After she had entered the Nursery a throng of cats started to swarm in.
"Okay, I want everyone out save my brother and my apprentice!" She shouted fiercely, her voice hoarse with lack of sleep. As if on cue, Foxpaw padded over to her with a bundle of herbs in her mouth. Setting them down by her mentor, she counted to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything. Skullcap seeds for extra strength. Iris Petals for breathing. Raspberry Leaves to easy birth. Yep. She had it all. Smiling at her mentor, she waited for instruction. "Nobody gets in, nobody gets out, until word is given." Silktail said abruptly, and Foxpaw nodded. She turned and rather disappointedly guarded the entrance to the camp.
Silktail worked quick, with her brother Tallfoot breathing down her back the entire time. His mate Quietnight was having kits and he was a hopeful young soon-to-be dad. Even though it was annoying, Silktail couldn't blame Tallfoot for being so protective of his mate. It made her sad that she might never have a mate herself, but she'd known the road she had chosen long before now. No mate, no kits, service and service alone. She began to envy Quietnight for a brief moment, and pity poor Foxpaw, but it all went away rather quickly as another piercing cry exited the Nursery.
"Foxpaw, go get some prey now!" Silktail cried out as she mixed the herbs, crushing them in her mouth and spitting them onto a normal leaf while she waited on her apprentice. Almost a second after she had left, Foxpaw bolted back into the Nursery with a sparrow that had been left from the previous day of hunting. Silktail worked quick, placing the herbs inside the bird. Foxpaw no longer sat guarding the entrance, but rather tried to learn everything that was required of a Medicine Cat when a Queen was kitting. Quietnight obediently ate the sparrow, her hunger gone as another painful contraction shook her.
In total it took roughly a little over an hour. The process was gruesome and tiring, each kitten being born about twenty minutes apart. Silktail worked somewhat grimly as kitting had never been a pleasant event for a Medicine Cat. Foxpaw sighed as she had to constantly bring water to Quietnight, and having to run out the unspeakable remains of each kit's birth and even the afterbirth herself. She began to despise Silktail for doing so, as the afterbirth was the most foul part of a kitting. Still, Foxpaw hurried back and watched as the kits began to nurse.
In total, three kittens were born that night. The firstborn was a handsome blue-silver tom appropriately named Wakekit. The second born was a pretty she-kit whose brown fur was almost the identical shade as her grandmother's. She was named Voyagekit. The lastborn made Tallfoot slightly suspicious, since she was a calico kit, but Quietnight reassured him that the kit looked just like her mother. The kit was then named Fantasykit, after Quietnight's mother Fantasy. Thus the night ended. Each cat pushing their way one by one into the Nursery, congratulating Tallfoot and Quietnight, and cooing over the kits. Foxpaw sleepily watched over the kits as her mentor went back to the den and slept. And eventually all was well and silent again in the Leaf-fall night, and everyone could finish their disturbed sleep in peace. Well, all but one...

"Move over!" "Speak for yourself, fatty!" "Both of you just shut up. Do we want to get caught?" Fantasykit yelled at her two quarreling siblings. Honestly, they were acting like two-week-old kittens! Well, they might still be kits, but they were three moons now. And they definitely didn't need to argue, especially while on a hunt. Yes, a hunt. They were stalking the deadly enemy of the Clans. Not the rats, like in those wonderful tales told by elders. A regular, yet still terrifying, villain...
"Shhhh! I see the fox. It's ugly." Wakekit said, and Voyagekit nodded agreement. Pushing past her two larger, and older, siblings, she looked ahead. Yeah, it was definitely there, hiding behind a great boulder. His fur was black with white patches, and his eyes glittered an evil blue of hatred. But as soon as they had spotted the fox, it was gone. "Where'd he-" Voyagekit began, but didn't get to finish. She squealed as she was pinned down, and the kits turned to see the fox right there. They both shrieked in horror.
"Get off of me!" Voyagekit yelped. "Dad, you're crushing me!!!" Their father sat up, licking his daughter's brown fur. Tallfoot grinned as the kits exchanged glances of shock, surprise, and glee. Voyagekit shook herself, ruffling her fur out once again with a groan. "Why do we have to play fox hunt? Why can't we play Warriors?" She asked with a sigh. Wakekit stood up proudly, the game being his own creation. He liked playing fox hunt. "Because," Fantasykit began. "what would we do if we played Warriors? Pretend to hunt and train?" All three of them sighed softly. Finding a fun game to play was starting to get difficult. The could scarcely find anything fun to do. "Fine." Wakekit interrupted all of their moping about. "We can play your Warrior Clan game if you want." Both Wakekit and Fantasykit sighed inwardly again, knowing what this would mean.
"Great!" Voyagekit grinned, the look in her eyes changing completely. "I'm the wonderful leader Voyagestar. Fantasykit, you'll be the Medicine Cat Fantasydream. And Wakekit, you'll be Wakefur, my Deputy." And it was no surprise. Same ranks, same names, it was always the same. Fantasykit laughed a little, thinking of what an excellent mother Voyagekit would one day make. She would keep kits in line for sure. Tallfoot shook his head, wondering how his kits managed with such a sister. Voyagekit was almost an entire miniature version of her grandmother, Strongheart, and it kept the entire Clan entertained. Another Strongheart was, of course, a bit much. But he loved all of his children, even the bossy one, and so he just gave her a kiss and walked off to check on Quietnight.
"Fantasydream, I need some herbs. My Deputy Wakefur is sick." Voyagestar demanded as she trotted around proudly. Fantasykit laughed and shoved some grass over to her brother. "There, Wakefur, now you'll get better." She grinned as he pretended to eat his 'herbs'. As he did so, Foxpaw approached the two kits.
"Hey, can I get Fantasydream for a minute? We have an issue needing to be sorted out." The Medicine Cat Apprentice said. Grateful for the excuse to leave, Fantasykit bounded after the important Foxpaw. "What's this about?" Fantasykit asked happily. Foxpaw laughed. "I needed some help sorting some herbs, and I know you enjoy doing it. So I thought maybe you'd give me a hand while Silktail is busy?" No more needed to be said, because Foxpaw was right. Fantasykit knew, if it wasn't for Foxpaw being the current Medicine Cat Apprentice, that she would be there. Fantasykit loved healing and herbs. If only she could work with them, as she desired.
